Grants available for cancer awareness

NHS Wessex Cancer Alliance in partnership with Action Hampshire are offering grants for up to £700 to anyone looking to help run an event or project in the community based around cancer.

Communities Against Cancer is a project aimed at raising awareness of cancer and helping communities understand more about risks, prevention and symptoms.

Grants offered are available for individuals, groups, and not for profit organisations and are aimed to help engage and support people in the community to:

  • Recognise cancer symptoms
  • understand benefits of cancer screening
  • feel confident in seeking help
  • reduce their cancer risk.

Free Cancer Champion training is available for grant applicants.

Areas covered for the grant are Southampton (and surrounding areas), Portsmouth (and surrounding areas), Isle of Wight, Bournemouth, Christchurch, Poole, Weymouth and Portland.
