Communities Against Cancer workshop held at Ropewalk Centre

On the 4th of February, Action Hampshire held a Communities Against Cancer workshop at WICT’s Ropewalk Centre.

Following on from the success of the last workshop at Ropewalk, the aim was to continue to help people in the community gain knowledge of cancer to help those in the community spot the signs and symptoms early. It was also to allow grant applicants for the ‚ÄėCommunities Against Cancer‚Äô project to find out more.

Information covered in the workshop was cancer prevention, signs and symptoms of cancer, cancer screening information and resources available to share with others.

Claire Vincent, Project Co-ordinator for ‚ÄėCommunities Against Cancer‚Äô commented, ‚Äė‚ÄĚIt was lovely to meet with members of the local community at the Ropewalk centre and hear about their ideas in starting conversations and raising awareness of cancer amongst their communities.‚ÄĚ

The ‚ÄėCommunities Against Cancer‚Äô project offers grants of up to ¬£700 to individuals, groups and not for profit organisations who want to find ways to engage with the people they‚Äôre supporting to get across key messages. For more information on the project, see ¬†https://actionhampshire.org/what-we-do/projects/communities-against-cancer/.
