New Healthy High 5 award for Southampton schools

A new, free scheme will make it even easier for Southampton schools to get pupils excited and engaged in staying healthy.

Southampton City Council’s Public Health Service and Solent NHS Trust launched the new scheme, the Healthy High 5 Award, for infant, primary and secondary schools on Thursday 10 May at Mansbridge Primary School.

The Cabinet Member for Education and Skills, Cllr Darren Paffey (pictured with Mansbridge pupils), ward councillors, Solent NHS staff and Public Health Service staff attended the launch which included a demonstration by Mansbridge pupils of a physical activity, The Golden Mile.

The Healthy High 5 Award is an easy-to-follow framework for teachers and students that makes it easy for schools to help pupils get fit, eat well and be more mindful.

If you are a parent, speak to your child’s head teacher about getting your school signed up for the Healthy High 5 Award.

You can find out more about the award on the website.
