Men’s Shed – coming soon

Working in St Marys we have discovered that many men feel isolated and left out.

Charlie Richardson a local resident and volunteer on the Local conversation steering group said

“I’ve seen Men’s Shed operational in Gosport and I was really impressed at how it has become a hub for older men to come and enjoy. From woodwork to computers it’s a non-judgemental place that allows men to come together and do things; a great way to break isolation and meet new people.”

UK Men’s Sheds Association, the support body for Men’s Sheds across the UK aims to raise awareness of Men’s Sheds and the life changing impact they can have.

They’re community spaces for men to connect, converse and create. The activities are often similar to those of garden sheds, but for groups of men to enjoy together. They help reduce loneliness and isolation, but most importantly, they’re fun.

WICT’s Gulzar Sharif said

“We’re really supportive of what Charlie wants to achieve in his neighbourhood and can confirm from our door knocking there is a lack of services for men in general. We hope to find a place in the local community to run this project. So if you are interested in getting involved or know where this project could run then please get in touch”.
