Cyclists light up Christmas Glow Ride

Southampton saw a festive flurry of lights last Friday evening, as over sixty local cyclists joined a magical glow ride through the city centre.

The annual cycling event is held by My Journey, the council’s sustainable travel brand, and invites participants to ‘bling up’ their bikes with lights, glow in the dark accessories and festive decorations before heading off on a glimmering evening ride.

Riders were guided by ride leaders and taken on two loops of the Common before heading down the city’s central parks to the Bargate, ending at the Christmas market for a truly festive finale.

The event comes as My Journey launches its second cycling challenge in partnership with Love to Ride – this time with a festive twist. ‘Winter Wheelers’ is the advent calendar with a difference, with daily goodies on offer from 1 to 24 December as well as a special Christmas Day draw for a £750 local bike shop voucher.
