Care as a career – Department of Health and Social Care roadshow

A Department of Health and Social Care roadshow to tackle the growing shortage of care workers in adult social care in the area will be in Southampton on Friday 8th March, 9am to 10am at the Solent University Conference Centre.

Open to care workers, the event will include speeches from care professionals, including a speech from Councillor Lorna Fielker, Cabinet Member for Adult Care.

In the South Eastern region alone, there are an estimated 20,000 vacancies in the adult social care sector, with 63,000 leaving the sector every year out of a total workforce of 209,000. At its current rate, it is predicted that in the whole South Eastern region, an increase of 125,000 jobs would be required by 2035 to adequately maintain the workforce for adult social care.

If you are a care worker and are interested in the event email RSVPSouthampton@mhpc.com
